Legendary Herbs is a small family business founded on a love of great herbs and great relationships. Our founder, Eric Brand, is a passionate herb nerd with exceptional connections in the field of Chinese herbal pharmacy.  Eric’s love for academic topics like herbal quality discernment and cultural variations in granule use have led him throughout Asia’s herbal markets, hospitals and granule factories, and Legendary Herbs is an organic extension of Eric’s passion for herbal quality. An excuse for further study.  A service to fellow herb nerds in the community.

At Legendary Herbs, we aim to provide practitioners with educational resources as well as the best products and prices in the industry. We are driven by authenticity and quality, and our company was founded based on a genuine desire to get superior products into the hands of Western practitioners.

Herbal pharmacy is a specialty field within Chinese medicine, and many practitioners lack a comprehensive understanding of issues related to herbal identity and quality discernment. At Legendary Herbs, we believe that we can advance the field by introducing premium products while teaching Western practitioners about the rich history of herbal quality discernment and processing.

Legendary Herbs consists of two people, Eric Brand and his father Charlie.  Charlie is our customer service hero, he runs all the logistics and is the secret to our success. Eric is responsible for all things Chinese medicine- he is  a fluent Chinese speaker and an instructor and practitioner of Chinese medicine. Eric has published two books on herbal medicine and lectures frequently on issues such as the clinical use of granule extracts, herbal authentication, and Chinese medical terminology.

We feel that is important to work with manufacturers that make important contributions to scientific knowledge and research. Our granule supplier is at the cutting edge in terms of research, quality and safety, and we are honored to have the opportunity to bring practitioners truly distinctive products with exceptional value.

Eric Brand

Founder

Eric Brand is a Chinese medicine practitioner with a passion for materia medica and herbal quality discernment. After graduating from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 2003, Eric spent over a decade pursuing academic and clinical opportunities in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and mainland China. He earned his PhD at the School of Chinese Medicine at Hong Kong Baptist University with a focus on Chinese herbal pharmacy, and he serves as a TCM advisor to the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia. Eric has written or translated a variety of modern and classical texts and peer-reviewed articles, and he served as Chair of the U.S. delegation on the ISO Technical Committee for international TCM standards (ISO TC 249) from 2014 to 2017.

Eric remains active in teaching and research, and serves as an Assistant Professor at Taipei Medical University.
